Alternators FAQs
Can I keep driving with the battery light on?+
Only far enough to get somewhere safe. Once the battery is depleted the engine will stop and power steering and brakes become heavy.
Could it just be the belt?+
Yes — a slipping or snapped auxiliary belt gives the same warning light and is much cheaper to fix. We check this first.
New or reconditioned?+
We offer both. Reconditioned units from quality remanufacturers carry a warranty and save a considerable amount on premium models.
Do you also replace the battery?+
If the battery has been deeply discharged by the alternator fault we will test it and advise whether it has survived.
